This course is for beginners or experienced painters who want to discover or improve the technique of knife painting in an mood of warm harmonies. You can paint either outside or in the studio from sketches that you make on the spot or from photos of your choice. Thanks to a course that combines spontaneity and precision, students will learn or improve the use of primary, secondary and tertiary colors, warm and cool tones and the manufacture of grays. We will study the different perspectives, including aerial perspective and the principles of balance and composing a painting using the golden section. The set of techniques that will be taught will remember the basic principle of any act of painting: painting remains a dialogue between the artist and the canvass which the painter should never forget to listen to.

Jean-Michel Cavalli was born in 1964 in Béziers. His work is present among collectors and art lovers in France and abroad.
Galleries: Roland Charton in Avignon, du Puy-Joli in Brantome, Mickael Marciano in Paris, Marseille and La Baule, des Beaux-Arts in la Grande-Motte, Mougins Arts Prestige in Mougins, Cadr’Art in Dijon.
Bibliography: Univers des Arts 58-59 No.159 April-May-June 2011.

Like many artists before him, the light of south of France was a turning point in his art: light, sky and reflections are a prominent place in his work. He paints landscapes bathed with light with his sole tool, a painting knife, that is like an extension of his fingers and which he uses in all the different ways possible... The artist travels extensively and paints the wonderful countries he visits with their sunny mood. His work is of a typical orientalist style. Like a guide, he takes us from Venice to Vietnam, from Peru to Egypt and Morocco, mixing colors and beauty. He paints fat over lean, on a yellow primer which reflects the warmth of the color through the transparent layer. By subtle optical effects, the paintings look very detailed where we watch the from a distance, but as we approach, we realize that they are composed of a multitude of energetic paint strokes.
