Watercolor : landscape, a meeting between West and traditional China

Cao Bei-An was born in Shanghai in 1957. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Shanghai in 1984, he was appointed professor of art at the Department of Architecture at Tongji University, the University of Eastern China of Arts and Craft and the college where he studied. He was then appointed lecturer in the Department of Art College of Shanghai and member of the Association of Chinese Artists. He moved to Brussels to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Belgium from which he graduated in 1998. It is also a graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Visual Arts of Mons. He is now a member of the Royal Association of Artists of Belgium and the European Association of Watercolor. He teaches at the Watercolor School of Namur and is a contributor to the magazine "Chinese Watercolor".

The works of Cao Bei-An have been reproduced in many collections of professional painting. They were exposed in China, the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. He admirers Chinese calligraphers and major Asian painters like Zao Wou ki of whom he is a friend and disciple. He received numerous awards in both Europe and China and was a guest of honour of many salons in France and Europe. Cao Bei-An will teach a vision of our familiar landscapes through the eyes of an artist nurtured by the technique and experience of traditional Chinese painting. In addition, he is able to teach watercolor to each of you in a style of your own choice, from perfectly figurative to totally abstract.
